3 High-Love, Low-Cost Valentine's Day Ideas

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 7:25 AM

A week to go until your mailbox will be overflowing with pink and red envelopes! That was always my favorite part about going to school on Heart Day when I was younger. (Funny how those expectations don't change with age...co-workers, are you reading this?) Ellie has been sharing with you some awesome free Valentines printables, so here are a few more ideas for the whole family to share some love on February 14th.

This is a darling idea from the anderson crew!

  • The mailbox bases are candlesticks from Goodwill that have been spray painted black.
  • The mailboxes were only a dollar each at Target.
  • The initials can be made with your favorite construction paper or scrapbooking supplies.

Plus, this craft is excellent for family mail every day of week, including birthday greetings and anytime someone needs a little love note to cheer up their day. The full details on how she made these are here!

Another lovely idea, especially if you're short on time and resources, is to create a mail wall. These paper envelope sleeves can be found at a craft store and are fun to personalize for each family member. It's an excellent project for the kids to do afterschool one day during week, too. Grab some wrapping paper to use for the backdrop design and adhere each paper sleeve with tape. Perfect for candy, notes and stickers!

Create a collage heart out of unframed prints you have sitting in boxes! This montage will dress up a stairway, hallway, entrance area, or living room with love from your favorite times together.

Polaroid pictures are used here, but since those probably aren't what you have laying around, each print would look gorgeous mounted on construction paper. For each 4" x 6" print, cut out a 5" x 7" piece of paper to frame it. Tape to the wall in a heart shape.

This would be a great surprise to have up before a loved one gets home from work on the 14th!

We have a few more V-day ideas to share with you in the next week, so stop by for fresh inspiration on creating a beautiful love day!
