Molly Ellie Amie
(Please excuse us while we speak in 3rd person for a minute! It is just easier that way...)
Molly, Amie, and Ellie met in college at Western Washington University. Molly and Amie were college roommates in the late 90s while Ellie was living in a dorm room nearby. College flew by, and with no expectations of life after campus, they ventured out onto their individual career paths.
Jump ahead to post-college real-world life. (Not at all like MTV's Real World.)
Amie and Ellie re-connected at a time when they were both looking for a new adventure. A series of snowboarding lessons in one of Washington's wettest winters cemented their friendship. Shortly after, Ellie moved into Amie's condo and the two lived together for a year.
Through this time, Molly and Amie maintained their strong friendship and invited Ellie along on their regular rendezvous. Birthday parties, lazy weekends, trips to Ikea, and Girls' Night Out extravaganzas ensued. Through the exhilarating adventures and tumultuous times of one's 20s, a sister-like bond developed among them.
Now, nearly 10 years later, their lives have changed in big ways as their true friendship has endured.
(It was destiny, after all.)
I’m wife to a sports-fanatic engineer, mother to a choo-choo obsessed two-year old boy, and owner of two dogs with polar opposite personalities. I'm also currently expecting a little girl in June!
By day, I teach 6th graders the wonders of science; by night, I fight crimes and solve capers.
I’ve collected more hobbies and past-times than I can count, most recently having taken up photography and road cycling. My parents instilled in me a love of cooking and gardening. When I wasn’t in the yard or kitchen, I spent much of my childhood sewing Barbie clothes and making greeting cards for imaginary friends. The Sports Fan and I are all about "DIY til' we die," having taken on numerous renovations in our home.
I love steampunk romance novels, converse all-stars, and my family. My highest ambition in life is to raise children who are both happy and kind – and to have some fun along the way.
Molly says: “Ellie is a rare combination of sparkling creativity, grounded science teacher and FUN. She is her own person and I simply adore her individual flair. I also love all of her deee-licious baked goods, so if I had to choose between her sugar talents and authenticity…err…brain stall.”
Amie says: "Ellie is the young, peppy, half-Korean version of Martha Stewart. She can bake a birthday cake, hem your curtains, go for a run and keep her son entertained all in the same afternoon. And she has just enough perfectionist and competitiveness in her to pull it all off flawlessly. She loves her friends unconditionally and is irreplaceable."
I am a wife, friend and thirty-three-year-old mother of a two-year-old boy - with another little boy who just arrived in March 2012. So right this minute I'm probably tired as new moms are, but also very grateful for my healthy family.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and never pass up an afternoon barbecue in the backyard. I am happiest hanging out with my husband, The Philosopher (who is forever on a quest to learn new things) and my son, preferably outdoors doing something active.
I thrive on keeping my family’s day-to-day life clean, organized and as stress-free as possible. I don’t care for swimming in the ocean (sharks should never be seen up close), scary movies, sand, or any kind of drama in my life. Actually, sand and glitter are both a big "no" since they continue to show up in random places for days...just like drama.
My friends and The Philosopher might say (okay, they do say) that I like to tell it like it is, but they would also add they wouldn’t want it any other way.
At the end of the day, being a successful mother and wife are the most important and challenging things in my life (and yes, I am still trying to figure out what that means).
Molly says: “Amie has been one of my truest friends in life, no matter where I’ve lived, what life questions I’ve been pondering, or what party song needs dance floor moves. She is an old soul with a young spirit. And I also appreciate that she subscribes to People magazine so we can both enjoy every issue."
Ellie says: "Amie is the confluence of analytical mind, level head, and good ol' common sense. It's no wonder that I turn to her when I need advice, every suggestion is gem. But don't think her a bore! She tempers all that wisdom with her hilarious stories, penchant for adventure, and dance diva ways."
I’m a 35-year-old writer who has chosen a life path of change, adventure, uncertainty and authenticity. During my 20's, I lived in numerous places around the U.S., then ventured to Paris for over two years while attending graduate school. Living and traveling around Europe was not only incredible in all the ways one would assume, but it also brought me to understand my life purpose. (I wrote a book about it. I’ll try to sell you – I mean, share with you – that story soon.) I was recently selected to be a contributing author to an inspiring book called The Thought That Changed My Life Forever that will be released in late Summer 2012. And of course I'll be sharing it with you here first, can't wait!
I live with my handsome rocket engineer guy (aka Rocket Man) in a house that faces one of my favorite things – a protected wetland. We have three cats that cause regular chaos, so therefore we were required to join a quarterly wine club. My weakness is sugar and my strength is fruit, so things usually balance themselves out somewhere along the way.
I write regularly about inspirational, spiritual and emotional things over here on my personal blog if you want to check it out some time. Because then I would like you a lot.
Amie says: "Molly is an intellect, a woman with the kind of passion for life that keeps her constantly learning about people, places, the world and herself. She is strong, independent and gives great advice. One of her best gifts is the thoughtfulness she brings to her relationships. Oh yeah, and her writing is ROCK solid...good thing she is dating a ROCK-et Man."
Ellie says: "Molly is the only person I know who not only follows her dreams, but cherishes the journeys she takes to get there. Her astute observations, quick wit, and delightful delivery always have me in stitches. She has an emotional awareness about herself and those around her that just makes you feel like...well, like you can be yourself!"
